Freshman Teahna Daniels blazed her way to a school record in the 60 meters and senior Courtney Okolo set a Birmingham CrossPlex facility record in the 400 meters. Daniels highlighted the night for the Longhorns as she crossed the finish line in 7.14 seconds to tie the school record set back in 1991 by Carlette Guidry. She advanced to the final with the No. 2 time as Oregon Sophomore Hannah Cunliffe ran 7.12. Senior Morolake Akinosun crossed in a new personal best time of 7.19 seconds to join Daniels in the final. All four of the at-large bids to the final based on time came from the second heat with Daniels and Akinosun. Daniels grabbed an automatic spot by finishing second in the heat. After her run, Daniels was all smiles and said breaking the record was not on her mind but knew a fast time was possible. "I felt when I was in my warmup that I was going to do a good job. I just went out there and did what I had to do. I'm really excited," Daniels said. Daniels said with her time and Akinosun making the final with a PR time it gives her more confidence heading into Saturday's final. "Oh definitely! Texas all the way."
