Georgia senior Kendell Williams became the first female athlete to win four NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships in any event, capturing the pentathlon with 4,682 points at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships at Rhonda and Frosty Gilliam Jr. Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas. Williams, who set the collegiate record in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.03 seconds, closed the competition with a personal-best 2:15.61 in the 800. She joined UTEP miler Suleiman Nyambui (1979-82) and SMU shot put star Michael Carter (1980-81 and 1983-84) as the only collegiate athletes to win four Division 1 indoor titles in any event.
